Over The Green There are dandelions growing there in the field above the lane Cows are rushing round like children in a game I see my true love standing there with our baby in her arms I keep smiling to myself I count my lucky stars It's over the green and the green and the green Jump the ridge and furrow to your dreams It's over the green and the green and the green Slip between the seven oak trees (Chorus) Kiss me in the long grass Touch the naked tree The church is standing like a mast upon a green sea Who would have thought we used to walk in fair old London Town It's under the bridge and down the Thames The Market Porter bound It's over the sand and through the hills we found our special place Up the tracks to the waterfall I still remember his face When he spoke I saw he had a twinkle in his eye "Each moment is a blessing with your true love by your side"

Tiger Tree 04:24
Tiger Tree Bring me fire Bring me love Bring me an angel flying from above Walk the red path Bracken's high Babe on my back We're gonna see the sky now Feel the cold wind blowing around my soul Got to let it go, got to let it go-oo (Chorus) Rolling thunder Strange dreams Two foxes in a fairyland scene You hold the power Inside you The Tree on the mountain Putting down it's roots now There's a green moss under my feet on the forbidden land There's a freezing fog on the hill tonight Treasures on the ground Holding on to you so tight I won't let you fall Underneath the tiger tree I've been here before

Green Man 05:08
Green Man There's fire in your eyes Can't believe we fell for the lies We're running through field and glen To get back home where the river bends There's silver in the leaves Feather's standing in the breeze There's healing for you and me The ghost white bark is still a mystery Sunlight Touches the ground Scattered flowers, golden crowns The Pied Piper is back again Hopping and skipping like an old friend Tread lightly on the earth Holding you Feel the sun at your back in the morning Warming you Hear the bird song in your heart It'll carry you See his smiling face as he runs to your arms He loves you (Pre-Chorus) Feels like coming home Feels like coming home When the machines of the city broke The factory's stopped their big black smoke Where the hills grow wild And where we used to roam When the machines of the city broke We found a way back home (Chorus) If feels like it's been such a long time You heard the rattle and hum of the city line The concrete feels strange underfoot You've been walking on grass land, in the woods Each tree is a beacon of hope Your the green man in the big smoke You look up see a moon in the sky He's really singing about the new tide

See You In The Light There's a heart in a stone We found on the hill alone I'm bringing it to you To bring you home There's a feather in a glass Brought by my daughter I'll put it in my window To see you I'll see you in the light I'll see you in the light (Chorus) Swifts fly under the eaves Underneath the damson tree We're lying on white sheets you and me Put on your gramophone Glad We're both home And we're dancing in the living room All of my life Thought love lasts for ever I wrote it all down for you Deep in your heart Love lasts forever You know it's true

about

Tiger Tree
EP2

Here is my second EP 'Tiger Tree'. When I lived in London I would always gravitate to the parks and green spaces to find solace and replenishment. 'Green Park' for my lunch when I worked in Trafalgar Square; 'Brockwell Park' on many excursions with my twins in the double buggy; the hilly 'Greenwich Park' in my early London days and 'Dulwich Park' for it's secret silver birch grove! I grew up in the Cheshire countryside so this was my way of touching base with my roots. My move back to Cheshire after these 15 years felt natural. 'Over The Green' was the first song I wrote returning north. It's about embracing the new present moment with a nod to the past. It centres around the village where I live and particularly the 'Town Field' which sits at the end of a long public footpath. You can still see the 'ridge and furrow' archaeological pattern in the field created by years of prolonged ploughing, dating back to the medieval period. It's written in the folk tradition, with a chorus we can all sing along with. The song 'Tiger Tree' was inspired by walks on 'Bickerton Hills' on the Sandstone Way. The next song on the EP 'Green Man' is inspired by the events of the last year. Initially it grew from my post-Brexit blues and feeling disillusioned with the current government. I imagined a fox running away from the hunt, deep into the countryside, fed up with the bickering scoundrels! Then the pandemic happened and we were all at home more. For me this meant being in a more rural environment. When I returned back to work it felt strange to walk on concrete pavements having spent most my time walking in the countryside. The fourth song 'See You In The Light' is about loss and bridging that loss. My mother-in-law, the poet Eleanor Cooke, passed away in 2016 not long after our move up here. The song is about how love continues beyond death. I was interested in the idea of objects as portals of connection, offering comfort to those left behind. When I wrote the guitar part I definitely had a John Martyn feel in mind. The last track on the EP is 'Morning Blues', an instrumental. It's just one of those songs that came about fairly quickly. You might be able to tell I'd been listening to a lot of Bert Jansch at the time. I hope you enjoy it and thank you for your support.
See you soon, Cheers Jude
