I was just a boy when I left old England

Six weeks training
There on the Isle of Wight
Where as a boy I'd go on holiday
Before I knew it I was jumping out of aeroplanes
Into the green of the agean sea

Our young sergeant said 'fix your bayonets'
Sticks and stones against the gatling gun
We obeyed his orders
And ran towards the enemy
We lost ourselves in the deafening cry

The sun came between us and the enemy
They turned tail and they ran away

In the camps there was a German officer
